The TI-89 is the required calculator for this course. No other calculator will be allowed for use on tests or in quizzes. For graded work, for some problems a calculator will be required, and for others no calculator will be allowed.

Course Topics: Topics include differentiation and integration of transcendental functions, integration techniques, indeterminate forms, infinite sequences and series, Taylor and Maclaurin Series, L’Hopital’s Rule, improper integrals, and polar coordinates. The primary goal of this course is to develop the student's problem-solving ability in these areas.

Homework:  It is essential for success in this course to work your homework problems. Homework  will be assigned each class period and discussed at the beginning of class.

Grading: Four one-hour exams, worth 100 points each.   Make-up exams will only be given at the discretion of the instructor, and with a valid excuse for the absence. You must contact me in a timely fashion (preferably by the day of the exam) if you need to arrange a make-up exam. One Final Exam, worth 200 points. The Final will be cumulative. Quizzes and take-home assignments will be worth a total of 150 points. No late take-home work will be accepted, and no make-up quizzes will be given, but the lowest scores for both of these will be dropped. Your grade for the course will be calculated from the percentage of your total points: 90% for A, 80% for B, 70% for C, 60% for D.

The last day to withdraw from the course with a W is Tuesday, March 11.

Help sessions are offered by the Mathematics Department Monday through Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and  Tuesday and Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM, beginning early in the semester, in D-125.

Students with disabilities who believe that they may need accommodations in this class are encouraged to contact the counselor working with disabilities at (678) 915-7361 as soon as possible to better ensure that such accommodations are implemented in a timely fashion.
