Five thousand years ago, astronomers in Egypt created a calendar with 365 days.  The ancient Egyptians made
astronomical observations for thousands of years, and eventually the ancient Greeks travelled to Egypt to learn about
astronomy from the Egyptian priests.  In this talk, we will examine the origins of astronomy
in ancient Egypt and trace its development in ancient Greece.
