In the talk, I will introduce basic shallow water waves
such as KdV solitary flow, shock waves and peaked solitary waves.
A historical review is provided on the development of solitary waves.
Mathematical theory and skills related to shallow water waves
are used to solve the shallow water models. Most of the models
are completely integrable. I will show how to prove the integrability
of nonlinear systems by adopting basic mathematical tools.
Some graphs of solitons will be given to describe the shallow water wave phenomenon.
