For this issue we have a similar problem. A 3 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot block is pushed flush against a vertical wall with its base on the floor. A 10 foot ladder leans against the wall forming a triangle. The block is underneath the ladder (within the triangle) and just touches it at one corner. Determine to three decimal places how far up the wall the ladder reaches. As was the case with the last problem, you may find that a graphing calculator is useful in approximating the solution to an equation that is difficult to solve algebraically.
