Minutes of the Faculty Council for Tuesday, October 21, 2003.

Present: C. Barnum, R. Bennett, S. Morrow, G. Banik, M. Thackston

The Faculty Council met and elected M. Thackston as chair.

After discussion, a decision was made to seek a clarification of the Council’s charge. In particular, the intention and range of the word “concerns” in the Council’s description was felt to be unclear. Further, the relationship of the Council to other channels for the expression of grievances needs to be better specified.

The Council also discussed the issue of record-keeping as it applies to activities of the Council. This seems possibly troublesome given the frequently confidential nature of the Council’s work. A decision was made to seek input from the University President on this matter.
