1.1 Moderator immediately moved to agenda item 2.

2. Promotion and Tenure P&P Comments and Revisions
2.1 Prof. Brani reviewed the process to this point, including his ad-hoc committee's annotated version (2-6-2004) of the IVPAA's revised Promotion and Tenure Policies and Procedures (P/T P&P) document of 11/06/03.  (Note that all senators should have copies of this draft, which includes notes listing faculty comments.)

2.2 Moderator suggested that Senators review the ad-hoc committee's revisions page by page, item by item, after a motion to accept the draft was made.

2.3 Motion was made and seconded- discussion follows- no vote was taken:
Senate accepts the IVPAA's draft Promotion and Tenure P&P dated 2-6-2003.

2.3.1 Page 1: questions on "grandfather" clauses was made, but Senate agreed to
defer specifics until end of this review process.

2.3.2 Motion to amend was made, seconded and PASSED:
Amend page 2, item 1, second "bullet" = "Tenurable ranks...", to add the rank of
Assistant Professor to the list of tenurable ranks

2.3.2 Motion to amend was made, seconded and FAILED:
Amend page 2, item 2, first "bullet" = "A year of credit toward promotion and tenure...",
to remove the phrase "and a teaching load of at least 1/3 time for an academic year".

2.3.3 Motion to amend was made, seconded and PASSED:
Amend page 2, item 2, first "bullet" = "A year of credit toward promotion and tenure...",
to modify the phrase " and a teaching load of at least 1/3 time for an academic year"  to
"and an average teaching load of at least 1/3 time for the period of evaluation".

2.3.2 Motion to amend was made, seconded and PASSED:
Amend page 2, item 2, third "bullet" = "Time spent on leaves of absences...",  to
replace the word "leave" with "leave or re-assigned time".
