Feb 18, 2003 Faculty Senate met in M100 Auditorium, at noon. Professor Tom Currin, Moderator of the Faculty presided.

1. Welcome
1.1 Moderator started the meeting at 12:00
1.2 Revised P&P 803.8 draft was distributed - revisions based on input to moderator as of Monday Feb 17.
2. Continuation of Agenda Item: Proposed P&P 803.08Faculty Promotion, dated February 2002
2.1 Motion made, seconded and passed:
(ref entire document) Replace word "program" with "department".
2.2 Motion made, seconded and passed:
(ref. page 2 item 1) "Each department peer committee consists of three to five tenured faculty in the department, who are not current candidates for promotion. Department peer committee is to be elected by the department. If there are less than three members, the department will elect the remaining member(s) from another department within their school."
2.3 Motion made, seconded and passed:
(ref. page 2) Department chair will be a separate entity in the evaluation process, and will not serve on either the department nor school peer committees.
2.4 Motion made, seconded, but FAILED to pass:
(ref. page 2) Eliminate the School Peer Committee.
2.5 Motion made, seconded and passed:
(ref page 2) Eliminate the Campus Peer Committee, but add a representative from each of the other schools to each school's peer committee. (For example, a school with four departments would have seven members on the School Peer Committee- 4 from the departments, 3 from the other schools.)
3. Admission Criteria Change Request: Dr. Koger
3.1 Ref. letter from Ron Koger to Dr. Thomas Currin, moderator, faculty senate, titled "Admission Criteria", dated Feb. 3, 2003.
3.2 Motion was made, seconded, and passed to endorse Dr. Koger's request: "Faculty approve an increase in admission standards to a high school GPA of 2.50 for Freshman, effective Fall 2004."
4. Adjournment/Postponement
4.1 Meeting will continue, date and time and location to be determined. Promotion P&P discussion will continue.
4.2 Moderator requests all interested parties to forward marked up suggestions to him by Friday, Feb. 21, so he can consolidate these suggestions.
