Feb 25, 2003 Faculty Senate met in M100 Auditorium, at noon. Professor Tom Currin, Moderator of the Faculty presided.

1. Welcome

1.1 Moderator started the meeting at 12:00

1.2 Moderator noted that he met with the President on Monday, Feb. 24, to keep her posted on the progress of the P&Ps. President indicated that if no new P&Ps are in effect by the deadline of April 14th, the working P&Ps will continue in effect for next year.

2. Continuation of Agenda Item: Proposed P&P 803.08Faculty Promotion, dated February 2002

2.1 Motion made, seconded and passed:

Replace items 3, 4, and 5 (page 5: Service, Professional Growth, Academic Achievement common criteria) with a single item 3: "It is to be noted that satisfactory performance, over time, is required in all the areas: Service, Professional Growth and Development, and Academic Achievement. Reference P&P 803.075 (Faculty Activities)."

2.2 Motion made, seconded and passed:

(ref.: page 6, item 1, Instructor to Assistant Professor Promotion Requirements: Add "evidence of" before all occurrences of word "noteworthy".

3. Adjournment/Postponement

4.1 Meeting will continue, date and time and location to be determined, but possibly March 11, 2003. Discussion of Promotion P&P will continue.

4.2 Moderator requests all interested parties to continue to forward suggestions to him, preferably in the form of "marked-up" copies of the draft P&P.
