I.       A motion was made, seconded and passed to suspend the rules and conduct Faculty and Committee elections as the first order of business.  Election results were as follows:

III.    The Faculty Moderator expressed his sincere thanks to the members of the Faculty Senate, Faculty Secretary, President, and Vice President, Academic Affairs for their hard work, academic leadership, and process facilitation throughout this past academic year.
 

IV.    The Vice President, Academic Affairs made the following remarks:

• Reorganization modifications have been approved by the Board of Regents;
• Department chair searches are proceeding;
• The MS, Community Design and Development proposal is still under Board of Regents' consideration;
• The MS, Systems Engineering is in development, being prepared to go up and running;
• Promotion and tenure announcements and recognition were made.

V.     The President made the following remarks:

• VPAA search committee members were named;
• An information sharing presentation regarding budget matters will be held on May 1, 2003.  This presentation will disseminate the best information available at that point.  The Board of Regents will not be able to address the full budgeting process until at least mid-May;
• Very positive productivity over the last year was noted in student statistics, new programs, new P&P's and the new Honors program;
• The minor capital outlay program's $5 million was secured from the Legislature;
• Our visibility at the Board of Regents has been excellent;
• Thanks to the individuals promoting and developing growth, progress, visibility, morale and support for SPSU, both internally and externally;
• A brief Q&A session followed.

VI.   The following announcements were made:

• Dr. Obeidat announced a globally recognized joint conference SPSU will hold in partnership with a Chinese university;
• Dr. Currin spotlighted the Masters of Science in Systems Engineering, Civil Option;
• Dr. Currin also announced the 2003 Moderator's Survey, to be released shortly.

VII.   A motion was made, seconded and carried to adjourn.
