The meeting was called to order by Monroe at 12:00.

Under New Business the following proposals were reviewed:

Math

• A new math course, Math 3310 was proposed for Math majors.

The committee recommended the proposal.

Management

• MGNT 4135 – proposed change to add MGNT 3505 as a prerequisite
• MGNT 3505 – proposed change to delete Math 2240 Survey of Calculus as a prerequisite

The committee recommended the proposals.

TCET

• One additional hour of Math was needed in the curriculum and identified during the Accreditation Review. Proposed removal of ACCT 2101 from the required curriculum and addition of Math 2306 as a required course in the curriculum to provide the additional math hour.

The committee recommended the proposal.

Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences

• Two related proposals to change the course Designations from PHYS to BIOL for Biophysics I & II; change the course numbers from 3001 to 3201 and from 3002K to 3202; & change hours for BIOL 3202 to 3-0-3 from previous 3-2-4.
• Three related proposals to change the prerequisite for BIOL 3000K from BIOL 2108K to BIOL 2107K; change prerequisite for BIOL 3200K from BIOL 3000K to BIOL 3310K; add BIOL 2107K as a prerequisite for BIOL 2108K.
• Proposal to remove BIOC 2111K from the catalog; BIOC 3111K will be the first course in Biochemistry.

The committee recommended all six of the proposals.

International Studies

• Proposal to add concentrations within the International Studies: Global Technology major:
• Management specialization
• Biology specialization

The committee recommended the two proposals.

Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT – Floyd)

• Proposal to add IT 4993 Capstone to the curriculum requirements for the BIT similar to the other programs in IT.

The committee recommended the proposal.

Under Old Business:

Two Proposals that were returned to CET from the last meeting were resubmitted to the committee for reconsideration.

Tim Zeigler presented the case for the two proposals:

• Proposal to change CET 4480 Senior Project from (1-9-4) hours to (2-6-4) hours.

The committee recommended the proposal as submitted.

• Proposal to change CET 4411 Title and Credit Hours
• New title "FE Exam Preparation – Civil Discipline"
• Credit hours from (2-3-3) to (4-0-4)

ContEd does not offer such a course on this topic.

The committee recommended the proposal with an amendment to state that the course is "For institutional credit only" in order that the Review course not be counted towards graduation.

Monroe raised one additional new item of business regarding a review of the Core Curriculum.

The Senate had recently discussed the topic and suggested assigning that to the UCC.

Tom Currin will be contacted for further information before any action can be taken.
